The lot features an album from Red Lodge, Montana including an unpublished photograph of Chief Plenty Coups dating to circa 1890’s-. This photograph album contains approximately 95 original photographs showing the Red Lodge, Montana area, surrounding Montana landscapes and buildings and various towns people and family. There are very few to any finer examples showing early Red Lodge, Montana with this example even showing a possibly never published original photograph of Chief Plenty Coups, a truly rare addition. Chief Plenty Coups was a principal chief of the Mountain Crow Apsaalooke Native American Indians of the Crow Nation in Montana born in 1848 near Red Lodge and Billings, Montana. The album also features such landmarks as Grove Creek (just north of Red Lodge), Heart, MT, the Finnish Opera House Red Lodge built in 1897, Point of Rocks 1898, Methodist Church Red Lodge pre-1910, East Rosebud Creek and East Rosebud Lake just west of Red Lodge, Washington School, Red Lodge old town, along with more unmarked photographs. Some photographs are from the early 1900-1910’s, but most date to circa 1890-1900. The photos show fair condition with the album showing wear and some damage along the spine. The piece measures 6 3/4" wide by 5 1/4" tall.
