<B>Chief Engineer Thomas B. Mulroy's Photo Collection</B></I> from the 1928-1930 Byrd Antarctic Expedition. This is an absolutely amazing grouping of hundreds of photos taken on this historic trip and possibly unpublished. All phases of the trip are included- the voyages there and back, the base camp, the planes, everyday activity, the dogs, and most importantly- the members of the crew. There are separate portrait photos of many, if not all, of the crewmembers, often in cold weather gear. Most of these photos are snapshot size with a few enlargements mixed in. In his diaries, available also in this sale, Mulroy often mentioned his picture-taking activities. This is a unique and important photographic study of the trip and would be an excellent companion to the above-mentioned diaries. Generally very good condition with dampstaining to some of the pages and photos.
