John D. Rockefeller signed stock certificate for Chicago Terminal Transfer Railroad Company, for 100 shares issued to Rockefeller, dated 20 September 1898. Certificate is signed on verso, ''John D. Rockefeller'', and countersigned by his attorney and private secretary, ''George D. Rogers''. Rockefeller signs his name here at the height of his Standard Oil fame. Large certificate depicts a vignette of a mythic woman at top center flanked by smaller circular vignettes of a train nearing a switching station and of rail workers. Rockefeller's name is printed in red ink and document is stamp and punch cancelled. Framed and displayed so that both the front and back of certificate are visible, with the verso photocopied for display. Frame measures 21.25'' x 25'', in fine condition.
