This is a scarce version of the Chicago Protector Palm Pistol with the trigger made without a hard rubber pad. Approximately 1000 Chicago Protector Palm Pistols were made without pad or any provision for same. Featuring a barrel with a band of floral engraving and the right side of the frame has a similar pattern around the edge, with "THE PROTECTOR / PAT MCH 6 1883" in a circle on the side plate. The left side plate is checkered around the border with "CHICAGO FIRE ARMS CO. / CHICAGO, ILL" in a circle at the center, twists off to reveal the magazine and is numbered to match other components. The right plate and metal disc are both old handmade crude replacements.
BBL: 1 3/4 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 32 XSRF
Finish: nickel
Grips: hard rubber
Serial Number: 1558
Condition: Very good as partially restored (see above). The pistol retains 90% original nickel finish with some minor flaking. The hard rubber on the right side of the frame is good with the checkering crudely recut and showing some wear. The hard rubber on the removable side plate is very fine with a few minor scratches and overall crisp checkering.
