Chicago, Illinois Shipped Smith & Wesson New Model Number 3 in 44 Russian Target Revolver with Factory Letter

The Smith & Wesson Number Three Targets were the premier 19th century target handgun which were originally designed for world famous target shooter Ira Paine. The revolver has the standard 6 1/2 inch barrel with the barrel rib marked with the two-line address/patent marking. The pistol has a square blade pinned front sight. The rear sight is adjustable and is mounted on the barrel catch. The barrel and cylinder are numbered to the gun. Blue finish with casehardened hammer and trigger guard and fitted with checkered S&W monogram grips. The right grip panel is numbered to the gun. The Smith & Wesson factory letter confirms the barrel length, target sight, finish and grips. The revolver was shipped on December 24, 1891 to Von Lengerke & Antoine Co. of Chicago, Illinois.
