<B>Chicago, IL</B></I> - $20 Original Fr. 429 <B>The Corn Exchange NB</B></I> Ch. # 1709<BR> An excessively rare note from the first of two identically titled institutions. This is both a rare early type as well as a rare bank, with only three examples from this issuer recorded in the Kelly census. In fact, according to that census, this specimen is the only Original Series $20 reported to date from any Chicago bank. Only First Charters were issued here, with the bank bowing out after a short nine year run in 1879. Tom obtained this <B>Very Fine </B></I>example from the Walter Herget collection of Illinois Nationals, which we sold back in 2003. Estimated there at $2500-4500, it realized $4830.
