Cheyenne Strike-A-Lite Beaded Pouch & Striker 1880

The lot features a nice 19th Century beaded hide strike-a-lite pouch or flat bag with striker from the Northern Cheyenne Native American Indians of Wyoming. The piece is comprised of Indian brain tanned buckskin with original tie straps and belt straps still intact, along with rolled tin jingle dangle cone fringe at the base and nice typical Cheyenne geometric beaded pattern along the front and flap. The piece shows a nice supple hide and little to no bead loss. The beadwork is all old glass trade seed beads in colors of sky padre light blue, chalk white, semi-transparent red, and a cobalt-like semi-transparent blue. Also included in the lot is the iron striker with a strip of some type of cloth or ribbon tied on. The iron striker is blacksmith forged with nice flourish. The bag itself measures 6 inches long, including the tin cones but not the strap, by 3 ½ inches wide.
