This is from the Cheyenne Native American Indian tribe and shows a warriors shield having a seasons mineral painting across the front. The piece is believed to be from circa 1840-1900. The front shows the seasons symbol in a green ocher showing yellow and red ocher rain symbols, a moon sliver upside-down and various snow dots. The museum quality piece is in very good well preserved condition. This shows a Buffalo parfleche shield and handles covered in Indian tanned hide with mineral ocher paints. The Buffalo parfleche can see signs of the original hide scrapping and fur remnants. Very rare piece displays very well with a rich design. Measures 20"x18".
