This is an original Cheyenne Native American Indian polychrome painted saddle dating to circa 1930. The saddle shows a traditional Plains American Indian saddle design with a high horn and cantle / seat both having a matching horn. The entire seat and part of the horn and cantle are covered in a harness saddle leather and the tree is hand carved from wood having a polychrome painted red, black and white design. The top of the seat is painted “1930”, the true early date of the piece. The piece also shows the original leather stirrup / fender rigging along with two bent wood stirrups. The saddle has a nice original patina and original paint. The paint shows a nice geometric painted design. Provenance: From a large American Indian and Western collection in Billings, Montana. This is a full size saddle.
