This is a Cheyenne Native American Indian Pipe Tomahawk with a rare branded or carved haft from circa 1840. The piece shows a forged iron pipe tomahawk head with a turned deep bowl and wide flat blade. The haft shows various trade brass tacks accenting with a file burn running along the under side, a shooting star effigy carving, horse effigy burn carvings on one side and bird effigy carvings along the other. Provenance: The piece is from a very large private Native American Indian artifact and weapons collection in Paris, France. The tomahawk was previously appraised for over $12,000. The piece displays very well and is very well preserved overall good museum quality condition. The Tomahawk head and haft can be separated. Measures overall 27.25"L with a 10.5"L x 3.75"W
