This is from the Cheyenne Native American Indians and shows an excellently mineral polychrome painted Buffalo Hide Robe. The piece has a wonderful "Winter Count" scene depicting Chief's and armed Warriors on horseback Buffalo Hunting. The piece has a wonderful pinwheel center traditional pinwheel symbol with various pictorial paintings in a geometric border. Provenance: This was acquired in 1930 by Isaac Mundy Collection in Kansas City and kept under museum conditions until being sold into the Phil Reovack Collection of Breckinridge, Co. circa 1970. Isaac Mundy was a government blacksmith for the Delaware Indians of Missouri Valley in the 19th Century. The hide is in very good well preserved museum quality condition and shows much if not all of the fur on the back side. This would have been worn by a Cheyenne Chief over the shoulders. Measures 93"L x 76"W. Please review pictures for condition and age. The piece does not come with any documentation. No Returns.
