This piece is believed to be from the nomadic Cheyenne Native American Indian people. Provenance: This is from a large early Native American & Western private collection in Billings, Montana and was purchased at from the T Bar T ranch near Sheridan, Wyoming where it was claimed to be a Cheyenne blanket or rug from circa 1880-1890. The piece shows a rich geometric design and tight knot construction. The verso long edges show a long strip of trade clothe or canvas which was used to secure the edge while handmade on the loom. Measures 60" x 96". Overall good condition for its age with some signs of age.
