Cheyenne Matched Set of Beaded Holsters c.1900-30
This is a fantastic matched set of beaded Indian hide revolver holsters from the Northern Cheyenne dating to circa 1900-1930's from the ex-collection of Mike Kokin of Sherwood’s Spirit of America. The set shows a pair of two matching revolver holsters both of which are comprised of Indian tanned hide with sinew and thread sewing having long frilly Indian hide fringes framing the outside edge and covered on the front with classic Northern Cheyenne geometric tab beadwork. The beadwork appears to be sinew sewn and has a tipi, cross and tab design in colors of red white heart, cobalt, chalk white and greasy yellow. Rare to have a matched set from the same collection. Each has its hide belt tie. Back hide shows some darker color and worn patina being slightly stiffened, front is still soft with little to no bead loss. Was said to fit a pair of Colt Revolvers. Provenance: From the ex-collection of Mike Kokin of Sherwood’s Spirit of America. Each measures 15-inches long by 10-inches wide with strap and fringes, beadwork and hide only area is about 8-inches by 5-inches.
