The lot features an excellent set of fully top beaded moccasins from the Cheyenne Native American Indians of Wyoming and dating to circa 1880’s. The moccasins show a colorful and attractive traditional geometric fully beaded top area over Indian tanned hide. The beadwork has a stunning pattern and shows all glass trade seed beads in chalk white, greasy yellow, semi-transparent red, semi-transparent dark blue, and medium green. The set exhibits minor wear from age and use and still has the original tie string attached at the tongue. The moccasins show a medium height ankle with excellent early red trade clothe edging. The base of the moccasins is a parfleche rawhide sole showing the correct wear for its early age. This is from the former collections of Ben Thompson and Tom Hardy and are truly a unique and museum quality condition set of early Cheyenne Indian Wars Period moccasins. Each measures 10.5”L x 4”W.
