The lot features an outstanding set of Cheyenne Native American Indian fully beaded cuffs / arm bands dating to the 19th Century. The 1800's beaded arm cuff gauntlet set shows an Indian tanned Bison Great American Buffalo hide construction that is lined with a dark trade clothe calico and is covered in period correct 1800’s glass trade seed beads in a traditional geometric pattern. The beadwork shows a chalk white background with geometric pattern in red white hearts, royal blue, medium-green, greasy yellow, and rare petit faceted metal beads. Each cuff shows hand cut Buffalo fringe at the base and the original Indian tanned hide tie straps, a rare and wonderful addition. Provenance: The set is from the Denver Art Museum where they were purchased from the Denver Art Museum deaccession sale from the current collection of American Indian pieces out of Minden, Nevada. The set has been wonderfully museum quality preserved showing fine condition with little to no bead loss and is finely sinew sewn. Each cuff measures 6”W with additional 4”L ties by 7”L with an additional 2”L fringe.
