The lot features a set of double sided beaded leggings from the Cheyenne Native American Indians. The set has excellent beadwork on both sides showing 19th century glass trade seed beads (chalk white, greasy yellow, navy, Hudson Bay red white hearts). Fancy beaded edge on Indian tanned hide and is sinew sewn. This was purchased from the King Saddlery Museum in Sheridan, Wyoming where the Ernst Family had the collection displayed.. The pieces were original collected and sold by Otto F. Ernst in the 19th century. Otto Ernst was a renowned Saddle Maker and would purchase Native American items to sell in his Saddle shop and Catalog. Otto Ernst Saddlery Sheridan, Wyoming. Little to no bead loss. Set is from circa 1880. Each legging is 19" long x 8" wide. Beaded area is 6"x7". Beadwork is similar to that on Cheyenne Pipe Bags. Has original museum tags.
