The rare piece shows early glass trade seed beads from the 19th century all sinew and cotton sewn on an early calico floral fabric. The rare piece shows no beads loss and a fancy beaded edge. The top piece shows beadwork sinew sewn on both sides and around the edges. Very finely crafted piece. This was purchased from the King Saddlery Museum in Sheridan, Wyoming where the Ernst Family had the collection displayed.. The pieces were original collected and sold by Otto F. Ernst in the 19th century. Otto Ernst was a renowned Saddle Maker and would purchase Native American items to sell in his Saddle shop and Catalog. Otto Ernst Saddlery Sheridan, Wyoming. The cradle or papoose cover is from circa 1890 and shows very good condition with little to no bead loss. The piece would have been draped over the top of a plain cradle with the beaded leather area arching over the top as shown in the pictures. Rarely seen piece. Measures 10"x16".
