Chester Gould - Original Comic Strip Art for Dick Tracy Sunday dated 6-15-47 (The Chicago Tribune, 1947). One of the great things about Chester Gould's influential detective strip was the amazing cast of supporting characters Tracy developed over the years. From Pat Patton and Junior to Gravel Gertie and BO Plenty, Tracy's friends were as colorful and unique as the villains he fought. This strip features BO Plenty, although Tracy makes an appearance in the first two panels. Measuring approximately 28.5" x 19.25" overall, this piece, like most of Gould's Sunday strips, is made up of individual panels adhered to a larger board. The center of the letters in the title have been cut out, and there is a tear at the top of the "R" in "Tracy". Otherwise, the piece is in excellent condition, and is a beautiful example of this landmark strip. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour.
