Chester Gould - Original Comic Strip Art for Dick Tracy Sunday dated 2-26-67 (The Chicago Tribune, 1967). A star of comic strips, comic books, animated cartoons, a radio show, several "B" movies and serials, and finally a big budget motion picture starring Warren Beatty, Dick Tracy has enthralled and delighted audiences worldwide for more than 70 years. It's the consensus of many fans, however, that his first medium, the comic strip, has always been his best, an assertion bolstered by the example offered here. Measuring approximately 23.25" x 26.25" overall, with an approximate image area of 19.75" x 23.5", this piece is in excellent condition, and, unlike Gould's earlier Sundays, which were rendered in single panels and pasted to a larger board, this piece is done directly on the artboard. The title panel is a stat, which has suffered some discoloration over the years, but all the rest is purely original.
