Chester Gould - Dick Tracy Sunday Comic Strip Original Art, dated 11-24-74 (The Chicago Tribune, 1974). Chester Gould tells us that he wrote Tracy in reaction to the "glamorized" gangsters of the 1930s. He wanted to give the public a good guy to root for, ergo Dick Tracy. Tracy, clothed in his trenchcoat and fedora, is hardwired to that attic space in the brain that controls our dedication to justice and fighting evil. From the Sunday, November 24, 1974 comic strip, Gould socks it to us with this multi-paneled poster-sized piece of art featuring the Brain, his girlfriend, Toots, Pat Patton, and Tracy himself. The art measures 22" x 14.5" and was drawn on two pieces of bristol board that have since been connected together at the back with tape; otherwise, the Sunday is in Excellent condition. Hey, smart guy... go ahead and bid! From the collection of Larry Doucet.
