American actor (1886–1971) best known for his character roles alongside such early comic giants as Charlie Chaplin and W. C. Fields. Semi-glossy 10.25 x 13.25 close-up publicity portrait of Conklin by Eugene Robert Richee, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “To my good friend Peggy, ‘just for fun,’ Chester.” Lower right corner bears a Richee blindstamp, with the reverse stamped twice by Paramount Pictures. In fine condition. Collector’s ink notations on the reverse indicate that Conklin signed this photo not long after his 1965 marriage to June Gunther, who resided with Conklin and other patients at the Motion Picture Country Home and Hospital.
