Partly-printed DS as president, one page, 17 x 13.5, May 16, 1882. President Arthur appoints Loren B. Hurd as "Postmaster at Springfield, in the county of Windsor, State of Vermont." Boldly signed at the conclusion by President Chester A. Arthur and countersigned by Postmaster General Timothy O. Howe. The gold seal and partial red ribbon remain affixed at lower left. Permanently mounted to a slightly larger foamcore board and in very good to fine condition, with some splitting along the central vertical fold, and ribbon-related staining to the lower left corner.
