Native American Cherokee Pottery Jar by Louise Bigmeat Maney of Qualla Boundary (Cherokee), NC, measures 4'' x 5.5'' and is signed on the bottom, embellished with carved lines and designs, FYI: Louise was about six or seven when she started making pottery. Bigmeat pottery is known for its black, shiny finish, achieved through several stages of polishing and firing with soft woods. In 1990, Louise and her husband John Henry opened the Bigmeat House of Pottery in Cherokee. She received the North Carolina Heritage Award in 1998.''
