The smallest man in the world until his death (1838–1926), he was only 28 inches tall and weighed 40 pounds. He was brought to the United States in 1881 and traveled with shows for the greater part of his life, including Barnum & Bailey Circus and Buffalo Bill's show. Original 2.5 x 4.25 carte-de-visite portrait by Weed of Detroit, captioned “Che-Mah, The Only Chinese Dwarf,” signed on the reverse in Chinese characters. In fine condition.
