American statesman and industrialist (1834–1928) who served as a US senator from New York and made his fortune as a lawyer and railroad executive. Early original .5 x 4 carte-de-visite photo by S. J. Thompson and Co. of Albany, signed on the reverse in black ink, “Chauncey M. Depew, Peekskill, Westchester Co.” In very good condition, with several horizontal folds and scattered light soiling to both sides.
