#971, issued to H.C. Frick for 120 shares at Philadelphia in 1885. Henry Clay Frick (December 19, 1849- December 2, 1919) was an American industrialist, financier, union-buster and art patron. He founded the H.C. Frick & Co. coke manufacturing company, and was chairman of the Carnagie Steel Company, where he had a contentious relationship with Andrew Carnegie. Frick played a major role in the formation of the giant U.S. Steel. Frick's signature is very rare. He endorsed the certificate on the back as H.C. Frick. Lith. by American Bank Note Co.
