Charming and colorful high quality contemporary 100%natural, vegetable dye, worsted wool pile, on cotton foundation. Gabbeh rugs are woven by nomadic tribes in the south western part of Iran. What is intriguing about Gabbeh rugs is that when one is reminded of the fact that the birthplace of such a sophisticated designs is among tribal nomads with very little education, if any at all. In fact it is only then, that one would come to realize and appreciate the fact that this is man's intrinsic genius way of celebrating life. Hence producing such a sophisticated, contemporary looking and captivating pieces. This Gabbeh rug has a thick pile and it is heavy. the backing is for added protection and padding.
