The present photograph by the German photographer Charlotte March depicts a characteristic fashion picture taken in 1967. A young athletic man is presented in profile, sitting on the floor and with his legs bent. The artist has caused a special contrast through the dark skin of her model in front of the white neutral color of the background.



The print is verso titled, dated and signed with pencil ‘Trevor’s Side 1967 Charlotte March’. The photo paper measures 40.5 x 30.5 cm and the size of the image amounts to 27.5 x 26.5 cm.



Charlotte March (1930-2005)

The German photographer Charlotte March was born in Essen in 1929. She studied at the Hamburger Kunstschule from 1950 to 1954, which was followed by a teaching position at the School of Fashion in Hamburg. It was only then, when Charlotte March decided to work as a professional photographer. Her works are therefore deeply influenced by her experiences of the fashion world. March took part in the first two world exhibitions of photography and received an award by the New York ‘Twen’ magazine. Many of her works as well as her estate are now preserved in the Falckenberg collection in Hamburg. (cbo)
