Antique Charleville Flintlock French Musket, Model 1777, .69 caliber with ties to Sam Houston's army. Indian musket with hide wrap on forearm and tacks on buttstock and in front of trigger guard with 34-inch barrel. Wire repair on ramrod holder. Included is a letter dated 10/24/2004 noting that the musket was purchased in Santa Fe from the decedents of a man that fought with Sam Houston in the fight for Texas Independance. Also, mentioned the gun was originally taken from a Commanche warrior after a gun battle. Used in the Swamp battle by French Mercenaries with Andrew Jackson winning the battle of New Orleans. Napoleon entered into war with Russia calling the French fighters back resulting in muskets being left behind and traded to the Comanche. NSN, Ca. French/Indian War period
