American document forger (died 1945) who forged manuscripts, letters, and signatures of celebrities and historical figures. Charles Weisberg forgery of a handwritten letter signed “A. Lincoln,” one page, 8 x 10, June 7, 1855. A forged letter to John O. Johnson, in full: “Your note containing election news is received; and for which I thank you. It is all of no use, whoever—Logan is worse beaten than any other man ever was since elections were invented—beaten more than 1200 in this county—It is conceded on all hands that the Prohibiting law is also beaten.” In very good to fine condition, with light staining and soiling.
