Charles Sumner autograph quote signed. He excerpts the timeless line from his 4 June 1860 speech in the Senate called ''The Barbarism of Slavery.'' Sumner became a national abolitionist leader in Congress four years prior, following another of his passionate anti-slavery speeches, the ''Crime Against Kansas'' speech. 1pp. on card-style stationery measures 5'' x 8''. A bit of a stamp remains above the text and reads ''Three''. Discoloration, with separation to folds at edges and a greater degree of separation to folds of integral blank page. Very good condition.
