<B>Charles Sumner Autograph Letter Signed</B></I> “<I>Charles Sumner</B></I>”. Two pages, 4.5” x 7.25”, tipped on to a larger backing sheet, no place, November 24, 1847. In this letter to “<I>My dear Waterton</B></I>” Sumner writes in reference to the “<I>$5,000 Committee</B></I>” and praises Waterton’s preaching abilities or “<I>noble Xtian discourse</B></I>”. He writes further that “<I>Mrs. Story, albeit unused to high-flown praise, is enthusiastic in her communication…she says there was not a word in it, which did not have her cordial concurrence.</B></I>” The letter has toned about the edges and has the usual fold creases, else it is in fine condition. <I>Ex.
