Original 1980 ''Peanuts'' four panel comic strip, hand-drawn and signed by Charles Schulz. In this strip, Snoopy gives advice to Woodstock on attracting the female of the species when playing volleyball on the beach. Though other birds appeared in ''Peanuts'' as early as the 1950's, only Woodstock, who flew into Snoopy's life in 1967, became the famous canine's friend, assistant and even mechanic to Snoopy's Flying Ace. The bird remained unnamed until after the 1969 Woodstock rock festival; Schulz named the character in 1970 when he told interviewers that the bird's name came from the festival's name. In the first panel of this strip, Schulz writes an 8 August date; the second panel has a ''United Feature Syndicate'' label dated 1980. Above the strip, he signs: ''Best wishes -- Charles M. Schulz''. Strip, measuring 24'' x 7'', has been folded, else near fine condition.
