Influential jazz bassist and composer (1922–1979) whose complex, innovative works meld elements of jazz, classical, and gospel. Rare glossy 10 x 8 photo of the musician in concert, signed in purple ballpoint along the neck of his bass. Also signed on the reverse by drummer Danny Richmond, saxophonist Bunny Bluiett (ins), and George Adams. A few light creases with one at the lower right corner, dings along the top edge, impressions from the signatures on the reverse, and the image slightly grainy, otherwise fine condition. Mingus was a passionate civil rights advocate and is seldom found on signed photos.
