American steel magnate (1862–1939) whose Bethlehem Steel became the second largest steel maker in the United States, and one of the most important heavy manufacturers in the world. TLS signed “C. M. Schwab,” one page, 8.5 x 11, personal letterhead, May 2, 1933. Letter to Elmer Daily, president of the Middle Atlantic League. In full: "Your letter of April twenty-seventh received, enclosing President's Pass for the 1933 season of the Middle Atlantic League. Thank you very much for your kind thought of me." In fine condition.

Believing that athletics made for happier, healthier workers, Schwab had established an internal baseball league among six of his east coast plants: Bethlehem, Lebanon, Steelton, Wilmington, Fore River, and Sparrows Point. The Middle Atlantic League was a lower-level minor league circuit in action from 1925 through 1951, with several teams in Schwab's native Pennsylvania.
