Vintage oversized matte-finish 9.75 x 13.5 Acme News Pictures close-up photo of an intense Lindbergh in his flight suit and leather aviator’s cap, goggles around his neck, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “To Mr. P. E. D. Nagle, Sincerely, Charles A. Lindbergh.” Mild edge wear and rippling, and missing top left corner tip, otherwise fine condition. This photograph is one of the most highly prized images ever taken of Lindbergh, who was standing by the wing of the Spirit of St. Louis just after landing at Mitchell Field on Long Island on July 19, 1927. The next day, he started his American tour by flying to Hartford, Connecticut. An impressive image, both in size and subject, capturing the determination that helped Lindbergh accomplish one of the 20th century’s greatest feats and made him an international hero.
