Robertson Aircraft Corporation business check, 8.5 x 3, filled out in another hand and signed by Lindbergh, using his “pre-landing” signature style, payable to Lindbergh for $159.25, stamp-dated December 31, 1926. In fine condition, with three vertical folds, mathematical calculation of expenses due on front, and expected cancellation stamps and holes.

Lindbergh undoubtedly used the funds from this check—his last as an active pilot for Robertson—before setting course for his historic non-stop flight across the Atlantic Ocean in pursuit of the Orteig Prize. On December 27, 1926, just a few days before payday, Lindbergh is said to have outlined a plan to acquire an aircraft—one that would be known as the Spirit of St. Louis—with his employer, William Robertson, and other men committed to helping him fund the journey. By January, Lindbergh and his crew were hard at work at making the plan a reality, with Lindbergh making history in May 1927. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
