Unique vintage glossy 2.25 x 3 candid photo of Lindbergh standing with Edsel Ford, signed in fountain pen “Charles Lindbergh, Jr.” In very good condition, with scattered overall creasing and light surface scratches, and a small area of staining at the right border.

The aviator followed-up his historic transatlantic flight with a world-famous tour that took him—and the Spirit of St. Louis—to Detroit in August 1927. While in that Michigan manufacturing stronghold he provided automotive icon Henry Ford and his son, Edsel, with their first airplane ride in a trimotor aircraft manufactured by the Ford company. This image was likely captured during that voyage, one that helped propel the Ford name, already synonymous with automobiles, to a moniker synonymous with air travel—and increasing sales of the $50,000 plane. As Ford’s aviation empire grew, the company began using airplanes as a means of advertising and promotion, including the sponsorship of balloon races, air tours, special flights, airplane demonstrations, and plane races...with several flights featuring Lindbergh.
