In 1935, he set off from Allahabad, India on the second leg of an attempt at the England-Australia record, but the plane went missing over the Bay of Bengal and he was presumed dead. Rare vintage ink signature, “C. Kingsford Smith,” on an off-white 3 x 1 slip affixed to a 4 x 2.25 off-white card. In fine condition.
