Letter from the Lords of the Treasury to “John, Earl of Bridgewater,” asking for a response to charges that he has withheld a portion of his taxes. Signed at the conclusion by Laurence Hyde as “Rochester,” “S. Godolphin,” “J. Ernle,” and “Ed. Dering.” In very good condition, with overall creases, light scattered soiling, paper loss to left border, and a few tape-repaired edge tears.
