Union officer (1838–1908) and aide-de-camp to his brother, General O. O. Howard. He was wounded during the Battle of Seven Pines and fought at both Antietam and Gettysburg. Original 2.25 x 4 carte-de-visite photo by Maxwell and Estell of Richmond, signed below the image in black ink, “C. H. Howard, Maj & A.D.C,” adding his unit underneath. In fine condition, with a bit of scattered light soiling.
