<B>Charles Guiteau Autograph Letter Signed</B></I> "<I>Charles J. Guiteau</B></I>", one page, 8" x 10.5", Law Offices of Charles J. Guiteau letterhead, Chicago, nd (1870s). Written to an unknown recipient, it discusses the facts of a legal case. In part: "<I>I was present on the trial. Two of the best lawyers in Chicago defended the Times & the jury gave $25,000. Story is worth only $250,000. Income $50,000. The morning after the libel was published all the other Chicago papers denied it so that in fact Miss Early may not damnified a $1 suit brought the day after…Every body said it served the Times right! But Miss Early did not have 1/20th the trouble I did. The law seems to be well settled, that if a great newspaper libels a virtuous woman, or a professional man, you can always make it respond heavily.</B></I>" Letters of Presidential assassins are widely collected and always in demand.
