Vice president under Calvin Coolidge (1865–1951) and co-winner of the 1925 Nobel Peace Prize for the Dawes Plan for World War I reparations. Vintage matte-finish 8 x 9.75 head-and-shoulder portrait of Dawes in a pinstripe suit by the J. D. Toloff Studio of Illinois, signed and inscribed in the lower border in fountain pen, "For my old & dear friend George W. Burton, from, Charles G. Dawes, Mch 23rd 1925.” In fine condition, with light silvering along the extreme lower edge of the image.
