Charles Evan Hughes typed letter signed as Governor of New York. Dated 19 February 1910, the letter to a John Herman on State of New York Executive Chamber stationery reads in part: ''...I have received your letter...and also the volume containing the account of the ceremonies at the dedication of General [Mad Anthony] Wayne's statue...[signed] Charles E. Hughes''. The statue of the Revolutionary War hero was dedicated at Valley Forge, PA in 1908. Hughes' impressive resume includes stints as U.S. Secretary of State, Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, and even candidate for President. 1pp. on card-style stationery measures 7'' x 9.75''. Toning, central fold, and very light soiling, else near fine.
