Son of inventor Thomas Edison who assisted in the running of his father's companies and later served as Secretary of the Navy and Governor of New Jersey (1890–1969). Four items signed by Edison, including: a TLS on Department of the Navy letterhead, February 28, 1940, authorizing the San Francisco News Junior to publish a message, in part: "I send my warmest greetings to the carrier boys of the San Francisco News. I have always remembered how my father, Thomas A. Edison, spoke of the days when he was a newspaper boy on the train running from Detroit to Port Huron. He was then only fifteen, and I have often thought that this experience aided him very much in later life"; a TLS on personal letterhead, May 28, 1963, sending thanks for a telegram on the occasion of a testimonial dinner in his honor; an Edison Botanic Research Corporation check from 1928; and a New Jersey Executive Department card.
