<B>Charles E. Hughes: A Scarce “Hopeful” Badge from the 1908 GOP Natural Convention, Featuring a Mint 1 ¾” Celluloid</B></I>. The ribbon itself is in great shape but for a clean horizontal separation (repairable either by reinforcement or sewing with very fine thread) in the field above his name. Two other horizontal separations have been earlier reinforced on the reverse with archival tape, not detectable from the front. We have seen several examples of the celluloid before, and to our recollection each had spotting or staining. This one is a beauty! Hughes celluloids larger than 1”, and especially over 1 ¼”, are all scarce to rare and highly desirable. Ex-collection: Chris Olmstead.
