Co-creator (1861–1938) with his brother, Frank, of the first commercially produced automobile. Extremely rare vintage matte-finish 7.25 x 9.25 Bachrach photo, signed in fountain pen, “For historic truth. Chas. E. Duryea.” Photo is affixed to a 9.75 x 14.25 mat. Uniformly toned, with two heavier overlapping blocks of toning and newsprint remnants affixed at the lower right corner which can be matted out of so desired, otherwise fine condition. Only one other signed photo of Duryea is known to have sold at auction in the past thirty years.
