American journalist (1851–1902) who co-founded Dow Jones & Company, created the Wall Street Journal, and conceived the influential Dow Jones Industrial Average. A first mortgage bond for the Amity Canal, Reservoir, and Improvement Company, signed by Dow as trustee on the reverse. The document retains 16 of its 20 coupons in the lower margin. Irregular bottom edge from used coupons, usual document wear, cancellation holes to center, otherwise fine, clean condition.
