<B>Charles Cornwallis Autograph Letter Signed</B></I> ALS "<I>Cornwallis</B></I>", one page, 7" x 9", Brome, October 23, 1795, with routine business content regarding disposition. In part: "<I>I would at all events have you discharge the amount of the Draft and place the sum to my account.</B></I>" The usual mail folds are present; with light soiling, otherwise near fine.<BR><BR>It was under Cornwallis' command that the British forces surrendered to Washington at Yorktown. After returning to England, he was later appointed governor-general and commander in chief in India in 1789.
