Methodist Episcopal bishop, he was the first to set ‘The Battle Hymn of the Republic’ to music. He introduced the song while held in Libby Prison and sang it at Lincoln’s memorial service on April 24, 1865. AQS, signed “C. C. McCabe,” on an off-white 3.5 x 2.25 card. In full: “Inseparably joined in heart, The friends of Jesus are. April 17–1876, Chicago.” In fine condition, with a light shade of toning from previous display.
